I am the Director of the Ribbon Organizing Center.

As a Black woman aging with an HIV and AIDS diagnosis, I’m living a chapter of my life that I didn’t see coming three decades ago. I have experienced and seen the rebirth, growth and maturing of an HIV/AIDS epidemic in the United States. Since my diagnosis, I committed a portion of my life to ensuring that people living with or affected by HIV, as well as the entities that serve and advocate for them, thrive. I’m here until there is no breath in my body or the last person living with HIV is CURED!

I enjoy more than anything being Mrs. Nathaniel Scruggs, the mother of LaTrice and Isaiah, the grandmother of David and great-grandmother of Davion. Next, I am part of the family of HIV. HIV didn’t kill me. It gave me the opportunity to be a leader, mother, auntie, mentor and a mentee. HIV gave me a voice to heal myself and to support others.

I also love traveling. I plan to visit six of the seven continents. Antarctica may happen but it’s number seven on my travel bucket list.
